What we handle

What our technical support for sport includes

We organise the layout, the interfaces between suppliers and on-site management. We work hand in hand with sport specialists: timekeepers, scoreboard suppliers, registration platforms and broadcasters.

Design & layout

Anticipate flows, technical zones and the constraints of the course.

A site organised before the start
  • Design & Planning: study of participant/spectator flows, zone layout plan (start, finish, refreshment points). Critical point: anticipate crossing flows that create bottlenecks.
  • Public and crew flows: coordination of the participant, public, organisation, media and supplier zones.

Coordination & infrastructure

Synchronise the suppliers and bring together sound, screens, transmissions and media needs.

A coordinated technical set-up
  • Multi-Supplier Coordination: timekeepers, announcer, medical, security, signage. The challenge: synchronising teams that are not used to working together and have conflicting technical needs.
  • Technical Infrastructure: course sound system, giant screens, broadcast network for TV broadcasters, wireless media transmission. Our edge: in-house broadcast expertise, no subcontracting on these critical positions.
  • Tight timing: ceremonies, starts, finishes, prize-givings and interviews must be technically timed.

Running the competition

Centralise decisions with the organisers and the authorities to manage contingencies.

A clear decision chain
  • Show Day Operations: centralised race control, real-time coordination with organisers and authorities. Reality on the ground: handling the unexpected (an accident on the course, weather) requires a clear decision chain.
  • Multi-site: sound, screens, video recording or streaming may need to work across several zones.
  • Weather and safety: outdoor constraints call for anticipation, fallback plans and coordination with the organisers.

To assess together

Working with sport specialists

A competition brings together very specific trades. We know their constraints and prepare our installations with them, so that everything works together on show day.

  • Scoreboards: scoreboards and score panels from specialist suppliers such as Stramatel. We plan their power, their connection and their position next to our screens and the announcer's sound system.
  • Results and rankings: your timekeeper has the power, the network and the positions they need, and their results can be shown on the giant screens.
  • Participant welcome: start village, bib collection, athlete briefing. We equip these spaces with sound, screens and network, in connection with your registration platform.
  • TV broadcasters: camera positions, signal feeds and power are ready for the broadcaster's crews. Rights negotiations remain between you and the broadcaster.

Frequently asked questions

Sports Events FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the technical aspects of sound and broadcast applied to sports events

How do you avoid interference with 15 wireless microphones?

A prior RF analysis of the site remains the crucial step. It identifies the available frequencies and potential sources of interference (Wi-Fi, 4G, other equipment).

  • RF scan with a spectrum analyser to map the environment
  • Calculated frequency coordination with sufficient guard intervals
  • Compatible equipment (Shure Axient, Sennheiser 6000) with automatic management
  • Prior tests in real conditions with all microphones active

With a rigorous methodology, 15 to 32 wireless microphones can operate simultaneously without interference.

What latency is acceptable for a hybrid event?

For real-time interaction, audio latency must stay below 50ms. Beyond that, exchanges between in-person and remote participants become difficult.

  • < 50ms: natural interaction possible, imperceptible
  • 50-150ms: noticeable delay but tolerable for conferences
  • > 300ms: a major problem, interaction impossible

Technical solutions: NDI, ST 2110 with PTP, or DANTE to stay below the critical threshold. Standard platforms (Zoom, Teams) often exceed 200ms.

DANTE or analogue: which should you choose for your event?

The choice depends on the complexity of your event and the audio distribution distances.

Choose DANTE if:

  • Complex distribution: multiple rooms, distant listening zones
  • Hybrid event with simultaneous streaming and recording
  • Flexibility required: audio routing that can be changed in real time

Stay analogue if: simple event, a single zone, technical crews not trained on DANTE. Technical complexity should match the real need.

How do I test my bandwidth for audio streaming?

Basic tests are not enough. You need to simulate the real conditions of your event.

Test methodology:

  • Test in real conditions: same time of day, same network load as the event
  • Load simulation: exact number of participants connected at the same time
  • Stability tests: keep the stream running for the full duration of the event
  • Latency measurement: check audio-video synchronisation in real time

Practical calculation: 2 Mbit/s per participant for high-quality audio streaming. Allow a 30% margin to compensate for an unstable network.

What if my supplier does not master these technologies?

Technical honesty is better than improvisation. A supplier who recognises their limits inspires more confidence.

Possible options:

  • Fast-track training: some suppliers can train quickly
  • Technical partnership: teaming up with a specialist for your event
  • Technical simplification: adapting the solution to the available skills
  • Change of supplier: sometimes necessary for complex events

Our role: identify these situations in advance and propose solutions suited to your budget and schedule.

Which technical issues should you anticipate for a sports event?

The critical points are flows, announcement sound, public/organisation zones, weather, timings, power, any video recording and security coordination.

Can you coordinate sound, video recording and broadcast?

Yes. The whole point is to think about these trades together to avoid conflicts over zones, schedules, cabling or priorities on show day.
