For your conventions, Strasbourg Events operates two adjoining sites: the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès (50,000 m², the 1,876-seat Erasme auditorium, a 3,000 m² pillar-free hall, up to 5,000 people in total), renovated by Rey-Lucquet in 2016, five minutes from the European Parliament; and the Parc des Expositions du Wacken (24,000 m² of modular space), designed by Kengo Kuma and reopened in September 2022. These renovations make technical installation easier, with renewed networks and equipment. The Zénith hosts public-facing formats.

For your receptions: Les Haras (Relais & Châteaux hotel, Marc Haeberlin brasserie and biocluster in the 18th-century riding hall: an 86 m² room for 100 people, a 200 m² lobby for 160 people), Régent Petite France in a 17th-century mill, or Léonor, with its listed 18th-century façades, between Broglie and the quays. For your galas: Aubette 1928 on Place Kléber (interiors by Arp, Taeuber-Arp and van Doesburg), Pavillon Joséphine in the Orangerie and the MAMCS. This command of Strasbourg's venues guides the audiovisual integration.

The 209-hectare UNESCO area (Grande Île 1988, Neustadt 2017) makes visible installations subject to the ABF (heritage architect) and the Plan de Sauvegarde et de Mise en Valeur (conservation plan). We anticipate these approvals, deliveries in the pedestrian centre and the reinforced checks in the Wacken/Orangerie European quarter during plenary sessions.

Areas of expertise

The expertise available in Strasbourg

Beyond the overall organisation of your event, each of our areas of expertise is available à la carte, to support your team or under full management: technical direction, sound, lighting and video, as well as art direction, graphic design, video creation and scenography.

Each assignment is modular: a single area or the full package. We can also help you identify a venue, but we do not book it on your behalf, and we do not organise accommodation or transport for attendees: Chroma is not a travel agency.

On-site expertise

A Strasbourg event is won before the build

Venue, access, safety, technology: we check the sensitive points before quoting, to avoid late trade-offs, grey areas and show-day blockages.

Our process for your events in Strasbourg

A rigorous five-step process to ensure the success of your project in Alsace.

  1. Stage and audience at a Chroma corporate event

    Project scoping

We analyse your business objectives and assess the constraints specific to Strasbourg. This step defines the ideal format, whether a countryside seminar or a convention at the PMC.

    • Detailed brief
    • Assessment of local constraints
    • Shortlist of relevant venues
    90 to 60 days before
  2. Plenary session fitted with a Chroma audiovisual set-up

    Tailored technical design

Our technical architects develop an audiovisual running order suited to the selected venues. We design lighting and sound solutions that enhance spaces such as the Aubette 1928.

    • Costed audiovisual running order
    • Floor plans and runs
    • Venue and supplier approval
    60 to 45 days before
  3. Corporate convention with scenography and lighting

    Coordination and logistical planning

Our team plans technical access for the Grande Île and coordinates deliveries with the venues.

    • Floor plans and calculation notes
    • Supplier coordination
    • Technical rehearsals
    45 to 7 days before
  4. Congress in progress with an audiovisual control room

Event Production Management on show day

A single point of contact runs all the suppliers and the audiovisual technology in real time. This precise orchestration gives you complete peace of mind during the event.

    • Overall technical management
    • Single point of contact on site
    • Real-time handling of the unexpected
On site from the day before to the day after
  5. Gala evening lit in a reception hall

    Post-event follow-up

We measure the impact of your gathering and provide the audiovisual deliverables. This systematic debrief helps optimise your future corporate events.

    • Immediate on-site debrief at the end of the event
    • Delivery of recorded content
    • ROI summary and areas for improvement
Structured report within ~2 months, depending on scale

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers to your questions about organising events in the European capital.

Does the quote cover access?

Delivery, unloading, technical parking, but also physical constraints (ceiling heights, door sizes, goods lifts, floor loading) must be visible at the scoping stage, not discovered a week before the event.

Who runs the technical side?

A single point of contact reduces back-and-forth between the venue, the client, the suppliers and the on-site teams.

Is safety included?

Safety obligations and operating rules are not optional: they are mandatory, under employment law and for everyone's safety. We build them into the scoping from the outset, and security can be entrusted to specialist suppliers from our network.

What happens if the plan changes?

The set-up must plan for trade-offs, alternatives and responsibilities on show day.

Which geographical areas do you cover around Strasbourg?

Strasbourg is our base for the whole Upper Rhine. We work in:

  • Strasbourg and the Eurométropole: the 33 municipalities of the metropolitan area
  • Bas-Rhin and the wine route: Haguenau, Saverne, Molsheim, Obernai and the wine estates of the foothills for incentive formats
  • Cross-border area: Kehl, Baden and neighbouring Germany, in continuity with our Baden-Baden page

Three airports serve the area: Strasbourg-Entzheim (SXB) on site, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) to the north and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse (EAP) to the south. Add 1 h 40 by TGV from Paris: your French, German, Swiss, Luxembourg and Belgian audiences reach Strasbourg without changing in Paris. This is what makes the city a regional hub as much as a destination.

Can you organise an event during European Parliament sessions?

Organising during these periods requires extreme anticipation:

  • Hotel saturation: accommodation in the city centre is fully booked
  • Secured perimeters: the Wacken quarter is subject to reinforced checks
  • Alternative: we favour venues on the outskirts or move the dates

Our strategic advice spares you these major calendar constraints.

How do you manage logistics on the Grande Île during the Christmas market?

From 26 November to 24 December, the historic centre is under full security measures:

  • Traffic banned: vehicle access blocked and tram stops closed
  • Strict checks: systematic searches at entry points
  • Suitable solutions: we favour indoor formats in MICE hotels

This management of the unexpected ensures your end-of-year events go ahead.

Do you provide solutions for multilingual events?

Strasbourg's status as a European capital makes multilingualism essential:

  • Simultaneous interpreting: deployment of interpreting booths and dedicated audio distribution
  • Complex audio control: distribution of French, English and German feeds
  • Multilingual recording: separate recording of the different audio tracks

Our technical expertise ensures smooth communication for your international audiences.

Do you handle cross-border France-Germany events, and events in German?

Strasbourg is a border city: Kehl is on the other side of the Rhine, and Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden and Frankfurt are one to two hours away. We are used to cross-border set-ups and German-speaking audiences:

  • Three working languages: French, English and German, with simultaneous interpreting when the format requires it
  • Logistics on both sides of the Rhine: coordination with venues and suppliers on the German side
  • Continuity between Grand Est and Baden-Württemberg: see also our Baden-Baden page for events across the Rhine

This border location makes it easier to organise your binational conventions and seminars.

Which venues do you recommend for each event format?

We guide the choice of venue according to the format, attendance and protocol:

  • Convention / plenary: PMC (Erasme auditorium with 1,876 seats, up to 5,000 attendees) or the Parc Expo du Wacken for very large volumes, both adjoining and operated by Strasbourg Events
  • Seminar and executive committee: Sofitel Grande Île, Hilton, Les Haras, Léonor or Régent Petite France
  • Gala evening and VIP event: Pavillon Joséphine (Orangerie park, 300 people for a cocktail reception), Aubette 1928, MAMCS or a private cruise on the Ill
  • General public: Zénith and Parc Expo

We then cross-check this choice against calendar windows (outside EP sessions and the Christmas market) to secure availability and budget.

What lead times apply to installation permits in the UNESCO area?

Installing visible structures on the UNESCO-listed Grande Île requires precise procedures and coordination with the Architecte des Bâtiments de France (ABF, heritage architect):

  • ABF coordination: any visible installation (stage, structure, sound system or outdoor signage) requires ABF approval under the Plan de Sauvegarde et de Mise en Valeur (conservation plan)
  • Standard application: submitted at least 2 months before the event
  • Temporary structures: ERP (public venue) approval 5 weeks before the date

Our proven method builds in these lead times and this dialogue with the ABF for full compliance.

Is Chroma a general event agency in Strasbourg?

Our main role is technical: audiovisual production, control, coordination of technical suppliers and securing the set-up. We can work with your agency, your venue or your local suppliers.

Which technical services can be coordinated locally?

Depending on the project, Chroma can coordinate sound, lighting, video recording, streaming, Event Production Management, speaker support and interfaces with the venue.
